Otaara started in 2011, founded by William Cottam who since 1999 worked in Brand Strategy, Marketing and Advertising roles with some of the most well-known and highly respected financial brands in the United States.

During this time William realized that banks lacked an insightful and consistent resource for recognizing and understanding the most notable and compelling customer-facing initiatives launched by banks globally.  This led to William founding Otaara.

Otaara began with a focus on helping banks in South East Asia, South Africa and India.  We then began servicing select banks in Australia, East Asia, Middle East and North America. 

We don't advertise or post to social media.  Our new client relationships are driven through face-to-face contact and word-of-mouth referrals.

William Cottam is the Founder and Managing Director of Otaara.  William's experience spans both agency and client-side, working with organisations of all sizes and on some of the most recognised brands in the world. 
As a UK citizen and US green card holder with extensive international experience working for European, Asian, Middle Eastern and US banks, William is uniquely positioned to advise clients on global trends, challenges, opportunities and initiatives.  
William moved from London to San Francisco in 1999 to work for a multi-award winning brand marketing agency, advising Bank of America and Charles Schwab on corporate branding initiatives.  In 2006, William joined the brand strategy team at Capital One working on the launch of the Capital One Bank brand in New York, Texas and the Mid-Atlantic region. Other duties at Capital One included value proposition development for new retail and business banking products and managing media, advertising and brand strategy for the commercial banking group.
William is responsible for Otaara's business development and management of the company's key accounts.

Otaara  is seeking an Account Supervisor responsible for day-to-day management of key agency accounts, ensuring outstanding client service and amazing deliverables.  Candidates will have 4-5 years of account management experience in a creative, fast-paced entrepreneurial environment. Critical skills include understanding of brand strategy, project organisation, being a strong communicator and team player, workflow management, providing teammates with perspective/input they need to excel and managing senior client relationships. Experience with digital and non-traditional advertising campaigns is a must.

Otaara Brand Name
Clients often ask how and why we came up with the Otaara brand name.  In the months preceding our launch, William noticed an article regarding a scientific exploration of an area of dense jungle in Papua New Guinea.   Among the many new species and fauna that the exploration team discovered was a new orchid that the team christened Otaara, with a sub-species called Otaara Hidden Gold.  This expedition, orchid discovery and name complimented our consultancy's mission of helping clients explore and discover hidden revenue opportunities.  Also important for naming it was available for commercial use and our research concluded that it was memorable and created a favorable impression.
